Tasting notes

This is a DRY Riesling, NOT sweet.  Bright, crisp and juicy are the hallmarks of this Riesling, full of green apple and pear note, juicy minerality and refreshing citrus notes.  This refreshing summertime wine with lively aromatics pairs well with midly spiced Asian-inspired cuisine.

Harvest 2016

Walla Walla Valley is an AVA in the south-eastern forner of Washington State, stretching across the border into Oregon.  Vineyards can be found on either side of the border in the hills that surround the Walla Wall River, a tributary of the Columbia River.  The sunny, dry climate of the valley is well suited for Riesling.

Walla Walla Valley falls inside the larger Columbia Valley AVA, but experiences a slightly cooler climate due to its position beside the Blue Mountains.  Warm sunshine during the day is followed by cold nights that are cooled by air from the mountains.  This cold, alpine air pools in the valley, cooling the wines overnight and extending the ripening period of the grapes, which allows them to retain acidity as they develop rich varietal character.
