Tasting notes
Zinfandel, Sonoma Valley, CA – This fruit comes from an old rocky creek-bed in the heart of Sonoma Valley. On the nose, this Zinfandel boasts heavy notes of red and blackberry fruits, boysenberry and raspberry intertwined with wonderful spice notes of white and black pepper. On the pallet, the flavors continue with red and blackberry fruits. The wine has a wonderful texture with balanced mouthwatering acidity and a nice grip of tannin structure on the finish that gives focus to this incredibly delicious Zinfandel.
Production notes
Harvest 2015
For the second year in a row, the 2015 harvest began as one of the earliest on record in Sonoma County.
A crazy harvest that saw a hand full of varieties ripping within two weeks of each other, including white varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris, and red varietals Pinot Noir, Grenache, and Zinfandel. With this being said you can imagine how crazy and fast wineries filled up.
Farming was a challenge this year with a warm winter, a cool spring and a couple of summer heat waves that resulted in a high-quality vintage but a very small yield compared to the last couple of record breaking vintages. The 2015 vintage has produced tremendous wines both richness and elegance. Make sure you get your hands on some because there is not going to be many produced. Cheers!
